Parameter estimation for autoregressive Gaussian-mixture processes: the EMAX algorithm

چکیده
The problem of estimating parameters of discrete-time non-Gaussian autoregressive (AR) processes is addressed. The subclass of such processes considered is restricted to those whose driving noise samples are statistically independent and identically distributed according to a Gaussian-mixture probability density function (pdf). Because the likelihood function for this problem is typically unbounded in the vicinity of undesirable, degenerate parameter estimates, a global maximum likelihood approach is not appropriate. Hence, an alternative approach is taken whereby a nite local maximum of the likelihood surface is sought. This approach, which is termed the quasi-maximum likelihood (QML) approach, is used to obtain estimates of the AR parameters as well as the means, variances, and weighting coe cients that de ne the Gaussian-mixture pdf. A technique for generating solutions to the QML problem is derived using a generalized version of the expectation-maximization principle.

Parameter estimation for non-Gaussian autoregressive processes
It is proposed to jointly estimate the parameters of nonGaussian autoregressive (AR) processes in a Bayesian context using the Gibbs sampler. Using the Markov chains produced by the sampler an approximation to the vector MAP estimator is implemented. The results reported here used AR(4) models driven by noise sequences where each sample is iid as a two component Gaussian sum mixture. The result...

An iterative stochastic algorithm to perform maximum a posteriori parameter estimation of hidden Markov models is proposed. It makes the most of the statistical model by introducing an artiicial probability model based on an increasing number of the unobserved Markov chain at each iteration. Under minor regularity assumptions, we provide suucient conditions to ensure global convergence of this ...
متن کاملParameter Estimation in Spatial Generalized Linear Mixed Models with Skew Gaussian Random Effects using Laplace Approximation
Spatial generalized linear mixed models are used commonly for modelling non-Gaussian discrete spatial responses. We present an algorithm for parameter estimation of the models using Laplace approximation of likelihood function. In these models, the spatial correlation structure of data is carried out by random effects or latent variables. In most spatial analysis, it is assumed that rando...

Abstract: Stochastic models such as mixture models, graphical models, Markov random fields and hidden Markov models have key role in probabilistic data analysis. In this paper, we used Gaussian mixture model to the pixels of an image. The parameters of the model were estimated by EM-algorithm. In addition pixel labeling corresponded to each pixel of true image was made by Bayes rule. In fact,...
متن کاملSequential Parameter Estimation of Time-Varying Non-Gaussian Autoregressive Processes
Parameter estimation of time-varying non-Gaussian autoregressive processes can be a highly nonlinear problem. The problem gets even more difficult if the functional form of the time variation of the process parameters is unknown. In this paper, we address parameter estimation of such processes by particle filtering, where posterior densities are approximated by sets of samples (particles) and p...
